Katherine Staples
Hello I'm Katherine, I'm a qualified Counsellor with a Clinical Diploma in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapeutic Counselling. I'm a Member of the BACP. I'm also an Advanced Trainee in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy in year 5 of training.
I provide long and short-term counselling in my private practice in Wantage, Oxfordshire. I also offer online counselling for those unable to attend in person. I only work with adults, and usually work with people on a weekly basis.
I believe that everyone has the ability to make changes to their life to enable them to grow and flourish. It is a privilege to offer time for people to talk about what really matters to them in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space.
I am a UKCP Trainee Psychotherapist and adhere to their Code of Ethics
Why CounterScript?
Transactional Analysis (TA) was created by Eric Berne in 1961.
As a trainee TA Psychotherapist, and therefore advocate of TA, I believe that when we are children, our family, friends and culture shape us and give us life-skills to enable us to have relationships with others, live in the world and have views on the world. This is called a Life Script.
However, sometimes what we learn and how we function no longer works for us. This is where therapy can help. By understanding your own Life Script, you can start to make changes, and 'counter' your script, hence "CounterScript".

How Can I Help?
I have a particular interest in working with people experiencing emotional and relationship issues, including domestic abuse and sexual abuse, as well as hoarding.
I also have experience and can help with:

Fees
If you would like to get in touch to arrange an initial one hour Zoom consultation, please complete the online form below or contact me via email or phone. I have limited evening appointments, but space during the day on a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
Sessions are face-to-face in Wantage.
I offer online sessions via Zoom.
Fees
Individuals
Initial Assessment - 1 hour - £40. Payable in advance of the session.
Each session - £55 per 50 minute session, whether online or face to face.
Sessions need to be paid in blocks of 4 at a time in advance of sessions starting.
Couples
Initial Assessment - 1 hour - £60
Ongoing sessions - 50 minutes - £80
I require a minimum of 48 hours notice (2 days) if you need to cancel a session. Non-attendance without 48 hours notice will incur the full session fee.
